It should be noted that this image was pieced together from the remains of the Illustrator files I used for the animation sequence in the short film "To Gather Back The Body." So the Kitab Date places it at May 2, 2003, but it was actually resurrected on March 28, 2007 (damn near four years later).
Unfortunately I lost at least one of the files I used to make the animation sequence, but I'm happy that I still have what I have. In case you sneezed, this is the film in which I did the animation sequence:
To Gather Back the Body
I used Illustrator to create the images. Then I imported them into Flash, where I made the full animation sequence. Once that was done, I exported the Flash sequence to a Quicktime file at standard NTSC resolution. The editor of the film then worked his magic and pieced it into the final film.
Another thing I did in the film is a brief post-production sequence that involved putting a "painting" of my illustrations onto a canvas that had been filmed live. First I used Photoshop to give a canvas texture to my illustration and make the image itself look as though it had been painted. Then I imported the image into Adobe Premiere, where I not only placed the Photoshop image onto the canvas, but I tracked it across both a pan and a zoom of the camera. Everybody I talked to said they didn't even know the "painting" was done in post. They all thought it was filmed live. Cool!
(I still see how I could have tracked it better, but whatever. I'm happy it worked!)
Maybe I'll try my hand at Flash animation again in the future. However, it won't be happening anytime soon as I don't have my own copy of Flash. I'll stick with comics for the time being.
